Pop-up Roof & Interior Fittings

mwm.pngmwm-tagline.pngAlthough we fairly early decided to take a pop-up roof, it took a lot of time before we decided which company would build one for us.

We have invested a lot of money in one of the most robust cars for an overland journey on the market and needed to be absolutely sure that our pop-up roof would not fall apart somewhere along the way. Everything else can be fixed when it is broken but not this. If you go through the various forums on the net you can read some horror stories.

Based on our quality standard three possible solutions were left in the end. The company with the most experience on long roofs on a Bremach, Innovation Campers, would have gotten our order would it not have had a delivery time of over one year. This company has an outstanding reputation for pop-up roofs. We finally had to choose between Lyndi and MWM Adventure Tools. One of the reasons we chose the latter was that it is only an hour’s drive from our home.roof-entirelength.jpg

Also difficult to decide was what we wanted inside the car. In our other pages we give some details on water, cooking, heating etc.

How do we store our stuff, what kind of ‘kitchen’ do we want, where do we sit, where to sleep when we do not open the roof because of a storm? Lots and lots of details have to be thought of and decided on. Do-it-yourself was not an option for us as we are not only not skilled enough, it also takes an awful lot of time. In our search for a suitable supplier we discovered that they are strangely enough not very helpful. Oh yes, they will make an offer and do the work but despite their experience they expect you, as the layman, to make the entire plan. We found other travelers the best source of ideas.

Anyway, the one exception we found at a late stage was MWM Adventure Tools. These guys are really, really good. They have among themselves complimentary skill sets and are also helpful in discussing alternative and better solutions.
